Tsyrkunova I. Means of reproduction in the Ukrainian translations of irony in modern Spanish prose. –

Dissertation is devoted to complex research of reproduction of irony in modern Spanish prose in Ukrainian literary translation on the material of C.J. Cela and C.R. Safon novels. The analysis of modern scientific approaches to the study of irony is carried out. A new definition of irony as an ideological category in the artwork was offered. The analysis of means of expressing irony at different levels of speech and their reproduction in Ukrainian translation was conducted. The work investigated the compliance of contexts of the original and the translation. A new classification of irony – Ironic models and their reproduction in translation was set out. Translator aims to achieve the dynamic equivalence in translation. The Interpretive model was defined as a basic approach for analysis and reproduction of artistic irony in translation. The main strategies of the reproduction irony: literal translation and adaptation. The increasing / decreasing of expressiveness and the loss of irony also take place in translation
