Essay

The research deals with the issue of forming future teachers’ readiness for preventive control over visual impairment of primary school pupils in the course of professional training. The author analyzed the degree of scientific development of the issue, as well as highlighted, theoretically justified and checked by experiment the facilities for forming future teachers’ readiness for preventive control over visual impairment of  primary school pupils (namely future teachers’ conscious motivation for performing the preventive control over visual impairment of primary school pupils; the extension of the curriculum content with due consideration of particular characteristics in setting up  the preventive control over visual impairment of  primary school pupils, improvement of teaching practice program by enhancing it with corresponding tasks applicable to performing preventive control over visual impairment of  primary school pupils). The author designed the model for developing future teachers’ readiness for performing preventive control over visual impairment of primary school pupils. The model consists of target-oriented, theoretical-methodological, content-technological and performance-activity units. The author defined criteria and levels of future teachers’ competence in performing preventive control over visual impairment of primary school pupils.
