Essay

The object of the research: eparchial women’s schools of Ukraine in the second half of the nineteenth – early twentieth century. The purpose of the research: the characteristics of the eparchial women’s schools of Ukraine as a type of spiritual educational institutions, the identification of the specifics of the educational process, the particularities of the pupils 'and teachers' staff of the eparchial schools. The methods: historical-genetic, historical-comparative, historical-typological, prosopografical, methods of mathematical processing of statistical data. Scientific novelty: it was proved that the eparchial women's schools had characteristic features in all the components of educational process and organization; the author defines stages of development of educational process which were different in the formation of educational goals and curriculums; the paper analyzes main directions of upbringing process in eparchial women's schools during the second half of the XIX – early XX century; original and borrowed upbringing practices were identified; the number of pupils was traced, the change of percent ratio of "spiritual" and "secular" pupils in the second half of XIX – early XX century was considered; social groups of pupils were researched; it author analyzes the main characteristics of teachers of the eparchial women's schools of Ukraine in the second half of the XIX – early XX century: level of education, duration of work and etc.; the place of the eparchial women's schools in the system of education of Ukraine in the second half of the XIX – early XX century was determined. Practical value of research: the materials of the research can be used in generalizing works on the history of Ukraine, the history of Ukrainian culture and the history of women's education in Ukrainian lands, in textbooks, in the development of educational and methodological complexes on the history of education for higher education institutions. Sphere of use: higher educational institutions.
