Essay

The thesis is based on the epizootical and serological monitoring of Leptospirosis infection in wild rodents, wild boars populations in Ukraine and laboratory animals (rats, mice and hamsters), water reservoirs (natural and artificial) in Kyiv. The etiological structure of Leptospirosis in these species of animals and reservoirs was studied for the period of 2013–2017. As a result of bacteriological and biological research the samples of water from natural and artificial reservoirs in Kyiv that locate in parks, squares and places of public entertainment, the circulation of pathogenic Leptospira was determined (in 55.2% of reservoirs from the total number). The method that allow to research the growth ability of pathogenic Leptospira in water and identify potential foci of Leptospirosis in nature was developed. As a result of serological monitoring by microscopic agglutination test, antibodies in blood sera against pathogenic Leptospira were identified in 43.3% of laboratory animals from the total number of investigated. In wild rodents this indicator was 22.4%, in wild boars – 86.8%. On the basis of the obtained data, the Conception of sanitation in natural foci of Leptospirosis was developed. It regulates and justifies all measures for the control and prevention of this zoonosis in potential natural foci.
