Object: educational processes in the East-Christian area (IV - XII centuries); subject:Byzantine traditions in musical education and ecclesiastical rituals of Kievan Rus, the purpose: to identify and justify the Byzantine traditions of musical education in the church rites of Kievan Rus and to determine the ways of using historical and pedagogical experience in modern conditions; methods: historical and retrospective method, methods of terminological selection, of reconstruction, method of the tagory, chronological, biographical method; Novelty: for the first time, the approaches to the study of the Byzantine tradition of musical education and its heritage in church rites of Kievan Rus were determined; The theoretical and practical principles of musical education in Byzantium of the IV - IX centuries are substantiated; The place of the Byzantine educational heritage in the church rites of Kievan Rus was determined; the stages of its introduction into the system of Kyiv Rus education are highlighted and the criteria for its identification are identified; Characterized the common and distinctive features of musical education in Byzantium and Kievan Rus; the effectiveness of the Kievan tradition of musical education at the present stage of development of education in Ukraine is shown; further development of the interpretation of the concepts of “traditions of Byzantine musical education”, “transplantation of cultures”, “dialogue of cultures”; field of science - general pedagogy and history of pedagogy.
