Object of research: archaeologist Lazar Moiseevich Slavin. The purpose of the study is to reveal the role of L.M. Slavin in the formation and development of the Kyiv archaeological center from the 1930s to the beginning of the 1970s, under the conditions of Stalinism, de-Stalinisation and Brezhnev's. Research methods consist of general science (analysis, synthesis, generalization) and special historical (comparative-historical, biographical, problem-chronological, retrospective), as well as the microhistorical approach and methodology for the study of "occupational anthropology". The dissertation research is based on the principles of historicism, scientific objectivity and logic / Scientific novelty of research: for the first time a comprehensive analysis of scientific and pedagogical activity of L.M. Slavin was conducted; The influence of political and ideological processes on the Soviet scientific intelligentsia on the example of L. M. Slavin's biography was traced; on the basis of introduction to scientific circulation and analysis of archival sources, the influence of L.M. Slavin on the development of Ukrainian Soviet archeology in the 1930s-1970s was determined; the least studied stages of the life of a scientist were reconstructed; The factors that formed the development of archaeological science in the Ukrainian SSR and the preparation of archaeological personnel in higher educational establishments were revealed. The contribution of Lazar Slavin to the creation and development of a training system for the Ukrainian Soviet archaeological science is substantially refined; Information on various aspects of the scientific activity of the archaeologist and insisted that L.M. Slavin not only conducted research, but also initiated the development of studies on the history of the study of monuments, memorial and museum affairs, and created a number of methodological developments on teaching archeology at universities.
