The dissertation is devoted to the actual topic of environmental education of senior pupils in the process of profile education in the lyceum-boarding school. On the basis of the analysis of sociological, psychological and pedagogical literature, the state of research of the problem in the pedagogical theory and practice of boarding schools is revealed, and the essence of the key concepts of the research: «ecological culture», «ecological education», «ecological education», «ecological upbringing of senior pupils» is clarified; their structural components are specified. The peculiarities and content of the profile education of senior pupils in the boarding school are revealed, and it is established that profiling is necessary for the realization of the individual needs of students who show increased interest in certain subjects, their professional self-determination, successful socialization, and facilitating adaptation to independent life. Ecological education is interpreted in the study as a process of purposeful influence on the person in order to create in her knowledge the scientific foundations of nature use, the necessary beliefs and practical skills, a certain orientation and active social position in the field of environmental protection, rational nature management and reproduction of natural resources. Ecological upbringing of the senior pupil is characterized as a systemic property of his personality, uniting value-motivational, value-cognitive and value-activity components, and provides both a self-respecting attitude to the natural world and practical readiness for nature-protective actions in everyday life and future professional activities. The criteria (value-motivational, cognitive, practical-activity), indicators and the levels (high, middle, low) of ecological education of high school students are determined. The model of environmental education of senior pupils in the process of profile education in the lyceum-boarding school was designed and tested, pedagogical conditions of its realization were scientifically substantiated and experimentally verified: stimulation of positive orientation of senior pupils for the protection of nature in future professional activities; ecologization of the content and process of studying natural and humanitarian disciplines in profile classes; intensification of environmental research project of senior pupils. The model developed in the study accumulates a set of components (target, theoretical and methodological, content-procedural, evaluation and correction, effective) as a logically related, completed cycle of actions that reflect the target direction, the theoretical basis, content and technological content, the diagnostic component, which provides the opportunity to recreate the purposeful dynamic process of environmental education of senior pupils in the process of profile education in the boarding school. The practical significance of the results obtained is the development of educational content and methodological materials («Formation of vital competencies of the person» (from the experience of Volyn Lyceum-boarding school of the Volyn Regional Council) for the teachers of the lyceums on environmental education of senior pupils in the process of profile education. The results of the pilot phase of the experiment showed positive changes in the levels of environmental education of senior pupils of the experimental group for all three criteria, unlike the control group, in the process of profile education in the boarding school.
