Essay

The dissertation is concerned with the experimental rationale for using the known antiseptic drug Decamethoxine in the treatment of intestinal infections. Using microbiological, pharmacological, toxicological, histological, biochemical, kinetic methods, and those of mathematical statistics, a broad spectrum of Decamethoxine’s antimicrobial effects has been confirmed, particularly, a pronounced activity against the main agents of intestinal infections, including that at a wide range of pH; the determination of the minimal inhibitory concentration of the Decamethoxine substance at different pH values has been carried out. It was established that Decamethoxine suppresses the biofilm formation in bacteria as well as microorganism biomass accumulation. The therapeutic efficacy of Decamethoxine oral use in coloproctitis in the absence of intestinal absorption has been determined. A favourable safety profile of medicine has been established based on the determination of acute, chronic and specific toxicity parameters.
