Poda V. Spiritual and moral education of a person in the pedagogical heritage of V.V. Zenkovskyi

The dissertation deals with the phenomenon of V. Zenkovskyi’s pedagogical personalia basing on the integral retrospective analysis of his life and pedagogical heritage; the thesis analyses the scientist’s conception of spiritual and moral education of children; it also generalizes the essence and features of the concept «spiritual and moral education»; the periodization of Zenkovskyi’s life and work has been made on basis of the analysis of social and political events and biographical facts of his life; the purpose, tasks, principles and means of spiritual and moral education in the scientist’s pedagogical conception have been specified; V. Zenkovskyi’s ideas about childhood as the essential period of spiritual formation of a personality have been explored; the connection of social and spiritual-moral education has been uncovered; the influence of the scientist’s pedagogical ideas on the spiritual and moral education of a personality in modern conditions has been studied. The practical value of the obtained results is that the basic concepts and findings of the dissertation enlarge historical-pedagogical knowledge, facilitate a better understanding of V. Zenkovskyi’s educational conception and the ideas of spiritual and moral education of children.
