Bobchynets L. Terminological and Phraseological Nomination of Gambling in Modern Spanish: Lexico-semantic and Functional Aspects

This thesis focuses on the study of lexico-semantic, structural and functional characteristics of terminological and phraseological nomination of gambling in Modern Spanish. According to gambling activities such as card games, bookmaker bets, lottery, casino, a thematic and semantic classification of gambling nominations has been suggested, their semantic and structural features have been described. The main ways of terminological nomination are semantic derivation, borrowings, morphological derivation, syntactic nomination, word-compounding, conversion, abbreviation. The most productive way of term formation is syntactic nomination, as the majority of terms are formed by two-component nominal and verbal word combination. Terms of gambling perform nominative, definitive functions and phraseological units are used as expressive means in mass media, literature, texts of advertising, news, songs. The main function of the phraseological units of gambling is evaluation.
