Essay

The research object is the theoretical and practical pedagogical heritage of Paulo Freire. The research aim is to conduct an integrated analysis of Paulo Freire’s life, pedagogical views and educational activity and opportunities of the use of his experience in Ukrainian pedagogy. The research methods: analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, classification and generalization, search-bibliographic, biographical, chronological, confronting, comparison, generalization, classification, systematization, narrative method, online interviewing, dialogue. For the first time Paulo Freire’s educational activity and pedagogical views have been researched; the factors that influenced the formation of Brazilian educator’s scientific and pedagogical worldview have been found out; periods of Freire’s educational activity have been singled out; main pedagogical directions in P. Freire’s heritage have been substantiated; Freire’s views in the context of foreign and Ukrainian investigations have been analyzed; the possibilities of the creative application of Brazilian teacher’s progressive ideas in Ukrainian science have been researched. The meaning of notions «critical constructivism», «critical pedagogy», «literacy», «conscientization» and «educational activity» has been clarified. The research results have been applied in the educational process. Higher educational establishments are the sphere of author's proposals usage.
