Klontsak O. The development of academic service-learning in the system of University education of the USA

The research object is the system of the university education of the USA. The research aim is to identify peculiarities of the development of academic service-learning of students in the system of university education of the USA and to outline the possibilities of using American experience in contemporary educational space of Ukraine. The research methods are comparative-historical method, induction and deduction, structural-system, logical-system analysis, comparison and confronting, systematization and generalization, prognostic method, on-line polls and conversations. For the first time the peculiarities of the development of academic service-learning in the system of University education of the USA have been revealed; theoretical foundations of the development of academic service-learning in the system of university education of the USA have been substantiated; the historical, organizational and pedagogical aspects of the development of academic service-learning in the system of university education of the USA have been analyzed, the periodization has been carried out and four periods have been defined; the ways of realization of academic service-learning in the system of university education of the USA at the beginning of the 21st century have been investigated; the possibilities of using progressive ideas of American experience of organization of academic service-learning in the system of higher education of Ukraine have been outlined. The meaning of the notions “academic service-learning”, “international service-learning”, “reflection” has been clarified. The research results have been applied in the educational process. Higher educational establishments are the sphere of author's proposals usage.
