Essay

The dissertation work is devoted to the study of water extracts of laminaria with the purpose of development and creation of a medicinal product for the improvement of the effectiveness of therapy of the thyroid gland diseases, accompanied by hypofunction, or the use as a prophylactic agent at iodine deficiency. On models of hypothyroidism induced by Mercazolil and sodium perchlorate, the stimulating effect of the aqueous extract of laminaria on the synthesis of T4 and T3 hormones (an increase in serum level by 37% and 22%, and 60% and 42% (p<0,05), and reduction of TSH level in 2.3 and 1.6 times, respectively, was established. In studying the effectiveness of the laminaria extract as an additional agent in the treatment of hypothyroidism with L-thyroxine, it was found that with their simultaneous application, there is a more pronounced increase in serum T3 and T4 compared with the use of L-thyroxine alone. Histologic and morphometric studies have shown corrective influence of the aqueous extract of laminaria on the structure of the thyroid gland in rats with hypothyroidism: antiproliferative effect, reduction of the form and number of tyrocytes, decrease of the expressiveness of the current effect of Mercazolilum and sodium perchlorate. The established non-thyroid mechanisms of action of the aqueous extract of laminaria were accompanied by the normalization of the metabolism parameters of proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, activity of marker enzymes of the liver and pro / antioxidant balance, which varied on the background of the development of experimental hypothyroidism. Toxicological studies have proved that the aqueous extract of laminaria belongs to the VI class of toxicity - relatively harmless substances according to the classification of K. K. Sidorov.
