Essay

Object of research: pathology of the prostate gland and reproductive function disorders in dogs. The purpose of the research: improvement of methods of diagnosis and treatment of prostate hyperplasia in dogs. Methods of research: clinical (anamnesis, survey, rectal palpation), ultrasonography, hematologic (determination of hemoglobin content, ESR, leukogram), biochemical (determination of albumin content, total protein, total bilirubin, ALAT, AsAT, LDH, alkaline phosphatase, glucose, cholesterol , urea, creatinine, amylase, Ca, P), immunoassay (testosterone, estradiol, LH, TTG, T3 general), cytological, histological, and statistical. Scientific novelty: the conservative method of treatment of dogs for benign prostatic hyperplasia with the use of the suprelorin 4.7 mg drug is theoretically and clinically and experimentally substantiated and implemented in clinical practice. At the same time, for the first time, the criteria for diagnosing prostate diseases, such as clinical signs, ultrasonographic picture, changes in hematological, morphological, biochemical and hormonal blood parameters, were substantiated. For the first time in Ukraine a method for obtaining the secret of the prostate has been developed and new scientific data of cytological and histological researches of the cellular composition of the secretion of the prostate and changes of the morphological structure due to its hyperplasia in dogs have been obtained. It has been proved that application of the implant on the basis of the active substance "deslorelin" leads to a decrease in the level of testosterone in the blood of dogs and changes in the echo of the structure of the prostate from the 14th day. The scientific novelty of the obtained results is confirmed by the Ukrainian patent on the useful model "Method of diagnosis of diseases of the prostate gland in dogs" № 123636 as of January 10, 2018. Proposed: For timely diagnosis of diseases of the prostate gland it is recommended every 6 months to hold andrological dispensary. In dogs with signs of diseases of the genitourinary system, it is necessary to conduct: transabdominal ultrasonographic study to determine the size and volume of the prostate gland; macro- and microscopic evaluation of sperm quality with the obligatory consideration of the volume of fractions of the ejaculate; definition of indicators of morphological and biochemical analysis of blood; urine analysis study. To differentiate the pathological process in the prostate gland of dogs, we suggest conducting a cytological examination of the prostate secretion (Patent for utility model as of January 10, 2018, No. 122367). For treatment with preservation of reproductive ability in breeding dogs for prostate hyperplasia as a temporary hormone-regulating castration, it is recommended to use the subcutaneous implant "Suprelorin 4.7 mg". Implemented: clinical practice has been developed and implemented in the way of early diagnosis of prostate diseases in dogs using the cytological study of secretion, which prevents further development of pathology due to timely initiation of treatment. The expediency of application of the implant on the basis of the active substance "deslorelin" was substantiated and the possibility of its use for conservative treatment of dogs for prostate hyperplasia with the further preservation of reproductive function was established. The results of the research outlined in the dissertation can be used by veterinary specialists in private and state veterinary clinics, cynological centers for the breeding of official dogs. The main provisions of the dissertation work are used during scientific research, practical activities and implemented in the educational process in teaching the course "Obstetrics, gynecology and reproduction of dogs and cats" at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology named after S. Z. Gzhytskyi, Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University, Dnipro State Agrarian and Economic University, Sumy National Agrarian University, Kharkiv State Animal Veterinary Academy.
