Dissertation for the scientific degree of a Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences in speciality 13.00.07 – Theory and Methods of Education. – Institute of Problems on Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine. – Kyiv, 2019. This thesis is devoted to the actual problem of development of dedication to purpose in senior teenagers in the process of physical education and recreation activities. The essence of the concepts of «personality's dedication of purpose», «development of dedication to purpose in senior teenagers in physical education and recreation activities» has been specified by means of theoretical analysis. The criteria (cognitive, emotional-value, arbitrary impulse, activity-practical) are specified; the criteria (cognitive, emotional-value, arbitrary impulse, activity-practical) are characterized with the corresponding indicators and levels of development of dedication to purpose in senior teenagers in physical education and recreation activities (high, medium and low). In the research the potential of physical culture and recreation activity is analyzed in relation to the upbringing of purposefulness of senior teenagers. For the first time theoretically grounded, developed and experimentally verified pedagogical conditions for the education of the purposefulness of senior teenagers in physical culture and health activities (introduction of effective forms and methods of educational work in order to form the motivation of senior teenagers for physical culture and recreation activities among older adolescents, involving older teenagers in the organization and conduct of competitive activities on Different levels based on the creation of successful situations; Establishing the interaction of family and school in the education of the purpose of older teens in physical culture and health activities, providing comprehensive work with teachers of physical culture, health improvement and fitness instructors in raising the focus of students 7-9 grades). The experience of general secondary educational institutions in development of dedication to purpose by means of PE and recreational activities has been studied and presented. This allowed us to identify general problems related to development of dedication to purpose in senior teenagers, their needs and interests that should be considered and specified during the organization of physical education and recreation activities. The experience of modern general secondary educational institutions shows that in the process of being engaged in physical education and recreation activities it is possible to carry out educational tasks through the use of both traditional and non-traditional means, forms and methods of sports activities etc. It was determined that the problem of development of dedication to purpose in senior teenagers in the process of PE and recreation activities is poorly developed in the educational environment of Ukraine. The content of the empirical research also included the use of methodological, psychological and pedagogical concepts (systems of views) namely the concept of person-oriented education, the concept of education that leads to personal development and the concept of problem-based learning. The essence of development of dedication to purpose in senior teenagers in the process of PE and recreation activities involves the use of accessibility, clarity, cultural accordance, inter-subject interaction, systematic approach and consistency principles. Methodology of development of dedication to purpose in senior teenagers in the process of PE and recreation activities has been determined, its efficiency has been empirically verified. The following forms of development of dedication to purpose in 7th - 9th graders in the process of physical education and recreation activities have been selected as the main ones: individual, collective, independents, extra-curricular and out-of-school activities. Recreational swimming and its elements; fitness that includes taking into account interests and desires of senior teens; sports games, competitions and traditional physical education classes have been chosen as main types of development of purpose-dedication in 7th-9th graders.
