The dissertation is devoted to the research of the problem of patriotic education of future border guard officers on the basis of military traditions.
It is determined that the origins of patriotic education are found in the peculiarities of social development at various stages of history. The significance of patriotism increases in those historical periods when the objective tendencies of the development of society are accompanied by increase of forces tensions of its citizens. The patriotic idea medium at all times was and remains servicemen, whose patriotism manifests itself in loyalty to military duty, in the selfless service to the Motherland.
A number of approaches to solving the issue of patriotic education have been revealed in particular: historical, complex, axiological, personally oriented, culturological.
The essence of patriotic education of future border guard officers on the basis of military traditions as the purposeful process, which is an important component of the formation of their personality as a patriot citizen, with a high patriotic consciousness, a sense of loyalty and love to the Motherland, capable of performing operative-service and service-combat tasks on the protection of national interests, integrity, independence of Ukraine taking into account the military traditions that have developed in the border guard agency.
The criteria (informational and cognitive, motivational and creative, activity and analytical) and their indicators for diagnosing of the patriotic education of future border guards officers (high, medium, low level) have been determined. The pedagogical conditions of the effective course of the investigated process are grounded and experimentally checked: observance of continuity of generations and development of new military traditions; direction of the content of the educational process to increase awareness of the cadets on military traditions; intensification of independent study of future border guard officers of the national and cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people and military traditions; training of scientific and pedagogical staff to the patriotic education of future border guard officers on the basis of military traditions. The structural and functional model of the patriotic education of future border guard officers on the basis of military traditions has been worked out, the main components of which are the purpose, approaches, principles, stages, pedagogical conditions of patriotic education, forms, methods, criteria, levels and the result of the patriotic education.
