The thesis is devoted to a research of subject and artly stylistic features of English and the French political caricature of the end of the 18th — the beginning of the 19th century (by materials of a collection of the Kharkiv art museum). The caricature, which popularity does not raise doubts, holds a specific place among graphic genres. Artists-caricaturists aggravate attention on the problems concerning modern with it society by exaggerating, deriding a way of life, character, habits, behavior and many other things. Satirical interpretation of reality, clarity, laconicism and availability of a caricature gives to the viewer additional information and an emotional discharge. At the same time in each country there were traditions and priorities in satirically allegorical reflection of reality means of graphics.
