Simonova O. Pharmacological study of the cream with cerium dioxide nanoparticles

The thesis is dedicated to theoretical and experimental substantiation of an expediency of development of a new photoprotective drug with cerium dioxide nanoparticles in the dosage form of a dermal cream. The optimal composition of the dosage form for further studies was determined in the screening of a photoprotective action on a model of photodynamic injury in guinea pigs. The safety of the cream with cerium dioxide nanoparticles was evaluated in acute, subchronic, chronic, gonadal, and embryo toxicity studies, as well as in mutagenic action study. Efficacy and safety of the dosage form in the topical application setting in guinea pigs were proven on models of photodynamic injury and ammifurin amplified photodynamic injury. Some pharmacokinetic indeces of topically applied cream with cerium dioxide nanoparticles were determined, such as systemic absorption and accumulation in skin, blood, and internal organs. The obtained results substantiate an expediency of development of drugs with this active substance for prevention of ultraviolet skin injury.
