Khavrona M. Specification of expediency of dental film application with dry extract of Geranium palustre in experimental ulcerative stomatitis

The thesis is devoted to the evaluation of the effectiveness and safety of the ulcerative stomatitis local treatment using a dental film with a dry extract of Geranium palustre. It was established that among different plants species of the Geranium kind the highest antioxidant activity under in vitro conditions exerted the Geranium palustre plant extracts, which also possess antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effect. The studies of the comparative anti-inflammatory activity on different models of inflammation allowed to choose the aqueous extract of Geranium palustre plant as a more effective one and to introduce it to the dental film composition, the use of which in the dynamics of the experimental stomatitis course decreased the signs of the inflammatory process on all stages of the experiment and enhanced faster wound healing. It was shown that the proposed drug form, a dental film with Geranium palustre extract exerts pronounced antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, wound-healing, immunomodulating and reparative properties under conditions of ulcerative stomatitis, that substantiates the perspectiveness of its further clinical investigation with a purpose to introduce it into a dental practice.
