The thesis on the basis of a complex of archival and published sources and existing theoretical research analysed the processes of demography, socio-economic, socio-political, educational, cultural and spiritual life of the Jewish national minority of Podillia during 1861-1914. The study considered the completion of the process of formation of compact areas of Jewish communities in the middle of 19th century, it gave analysis of statistics of the total number of Jews in cities, towns and rural areas of Podillia province, demographic characteristics of birth-rate, formation of age and sex groups, systematization of the organization of jewish self-government and participation in the socio-political and revolutionary movement of the jews. The analisis the participation of Jews of Podillia in trade, industrial and handicraft production, land leasing and their place and role in shaping market relations in the region's economy. The dessartation shows thet ethnic education, culture, language, religion and traditations remained the main factors in the self-expression of jews in Podillia.
