Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the urgent problem of the formation of citizenship traits among high school students in a multicultural region. The theoretical analysis clarifies the essence of the concepts of “citizenship”, “features of citizenship”, and “multicultural region”. The multiculturalism of the region is justified as a factor in the formation of citizenship traits among high school students; The features of the formation of citizenship traits (criticality, tolerance, responsibility and activity) among high school students in a multicultural region are disclosed. The components (cognitive, emotional and value, practical-activity and reflexive), criteria (civic knowledge, emotional-value attitude to citizenship, activity, awareness of own citizenship), indicators and level (low, medium, high) of citizenship formation are defined high school students in a multicultural region. For the first time, the pedagogical conditions for the formation of traits of citizenship among high school students in a multicultural region have been theoretically grounded and experimentally verified (the organization of teachers’ training; the optimal combination of using traditional and interactive methods that develop students' critical thinking and include them in different forms of practice-oriented activities, organization of pedagogical interaction of various participants of the educational process and society to encourage high school students’ subjectivity development and to support their initiative and social activity).
