A malfunctioning engine of a water transport vehicle can lead to increased fuel consumption, reduced power, or even failure during the route. All these are the reasons for the additional costs of transportation of goods by means of water transport. To ensure optimal (planned) costs for transportation of goods by means of water transport and to prevent accidents, an effective system of control of the technical condition of the engines of such means is required. Therefore, the scientific and technical problem, which is solved in the dissertation and consists in the further development of methods of spectral analysis of the characteristics of random signals for the diagnostic control of the technical condition of engines of water transport vehicles, is relevant. The simulation results of the obtained results showed that the application of the proposed methods in the diagnostic control of the technical condition of engines of water transport vehicles reduces the idle time by up to 30%. This saves up to 25% of the annual costs of servicing the means of water transport and up to 15% of the cost of transporting goods by eliminating possible engine failures when moving along the specified route. This increases the accuracy of diagnosis of the technical condition of the engines by (10… 36)%, depending on the method of diagnostic control.
