Object – vocatives as speech etiquette units functioning in the classical Russian prose trilogy “Childhood. Boyhood. Youth” by L. N. Tolstoy and the novel “Children’s years of Bagrov’s grandson” by S. T. Aksakov – in various communicative and speech situations of a family communication; aim – to identify and systematize vocatives (addressing) as speech etiquette formulas of a noble family communication in prose works of Russian classical literature; to determine their structural, semantic and pragmatic characteristics as well as aesthetic and cultural significance in the analyzed literary discourses and in Russian linguistic culture in general; methods – observation, descriptive, comparative, statistical analysis, contextual, linguopragmatic analysis, semantic-stylistic, component analysis, elements of diachronic analysis, analysis of dictionary definitions; novelty – analytically generalized and systematized (from the standpoint of the latest linguistic knowledge – linguistic pragmatics and linguoculturology) vocatives as speech etiquette formulas that function in Russian classical prose of the XIX th century; specified the range of formulas of speech etiquette, used mainly in the field of family speech communication, in its current state, and some aspects of modern theory of speech etiquette (including the actualization of appeals as speech etiquette signs of appellate function); results – the materials of the research can be used in teaching a number of disciplines, both linguistic and interdisciplinary ("Fundamentals of Speech Communication", "Theory and Practice of Speech Communication", "Stylistics of the Russian Language", "Culture of the Russian Language", "Linguoculturology", "Linguistic pragmatics "), as well as disciplines involving the comparison of speech etiquette in different linguistic cultures; special courses and special seminars on cultural and speech studies, linguocultural and linguopragmatic issues; field – philology
