Thesis for the degree of Ph.D. in Technical Science (Doctor of Philosophy) specialty 05.22.20 – оperation and repair of transport modes (Field of knowledge 27 – Transport). – Dnipro National University of Railway Transport named after Academician V. Lazaryan, Dnipro, 2020. The thesis is devoted to the solution of the relevant scientific task of forming the technology of traction support of freight railway transportation by private locomotives under conditions of separation of activity on infrastructure operation and transportations. At the present, the locomotive fleet of Ukrainska zaliznytsia JSC consists of 3871 units. The wear of the electric locomotive fleet is about 95%; the wear of the diesel lo-comotive fleet is 99%. As well, the reduction of locomotive fleet leads to both a decrease in the volume of transportations and a deterioration in the use indicators of freight cars. Using the mathematical statistics and correlation analysis, the volumes of cargo transportations and the dynamics of use indicators of the rolling stock providing them were investigated. The theory of operational work of railways, relational analysis for the development of methods for organizing the interaction between carriers and the infra-structure operator. Methods of mathematical programming, economic-mathematical modelling and theory of operational work of railways for the development of traction methods for cargo transportation under conditions of functioning of independent carriers. Economic-mathematical modelling to determine the area of effective application of private locomotive traction on the railways of Ukraine. The results obtained in the dissertation solve the scientific problem of the formation of traction support technologies for freight transportation by private locomotives based on the development of the dependence of the schemes of the organization of locomotives and locomotive crews of independent carriers on the length of sections and the establishment of the dependence of the cost of transport of freight transportation by rail when using private locomotive traction. In order to allow for private locomotive traction, the methods of formalizing the description of the infrastructure have been im-proved, which allow to organize the interaction between the infrastructure operator and its independent carriers. The results obtained in the thesis solve the scientific problem of formation of traction technologies for supporting cargo transportation by private locomotives based on the development of the dependence of schemes of organization of locomotives and lo-comotives of crews of independent carriers on the length of district and establishing the dependence of the cost of private locomotive traction. In order to provide private loco-motive traction, the methods of formalizing the description of the infrastructure have been improved allowing the interaction between the infrastructure operator and inde-pendent carriers to be organized.
