Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the problem of lifelong education development in German-speaking countries of Europe (end of the 20th – beginning of the 21st century). On the basis of analysis of Ukrainian and foreign publications, the genesis of lifelong education has been revealed; the preconditions that contributed to the formation of the system of lifelong education in German-speaking countries have been identified. They are the following: political, economic, socio-pedagogical. The historical and pedagogical aspects of lifelong education are highlighted. Based upon the analysis of the works of scientists from German-speaking countries and the results of the study of the experience of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Lichtenstein in the research area, the main trends in the development of lifelong education have been characterized. They are the following: globalisation of education, internationalization, digitalization, gadgetization. The research of the development of lifelong education in the outlined countries has been conducted on the basis of age characteristic. Content, form and methods are indicated for each stage of education. The development of lifelong education is highlighted by the forms of education: formal, non-formal, informal. The learning process is characterized by its differentiation and individualisation. The possibilities of extrapolation of lifelong education system of German-speaking countries into Ukrainian educational space have been highlighted
