The thesis research is devoted to the problem of cultivation of a values-based attitude towards the Motherland among younger schoolchildren by means of folk pedagogy. On the basis of a theoretical analysis of the problem under study, the essence of the concepts of «values-based attitude towards the Motherland», «cultivation of the values-based attitude towards the Motherland», «educatedness of the values-based attitude towards the Motherland among younger schoolchildren» was clarified. The potential of folk pedagogy in the educational process of elementary school in the context of cultivation of a values-based attitude towards the Motherland in younger schoolchildren was revealed. The structural components of educatedness of the values-based attitude towards the Motherland are determined, namely: cognitive, emotional-value, behavioral. Criteria have been developed («knowledge of the values-based attitude towards the Motherland»; «desire to show the values-based attitude towards the Motherland»; «demonstartion of the values-based attitude towards the Motherland in real activity» with relevant indicators; the levels (high, sufficient, middle, low) of educatedness of the values-based attitude towards the Motherland in younger schoolchildren by means of folk pedagogy, psychological mechanisms (national self- awareness and national-cultural identity) and functions of cultivation of the values-based attitude towards the Motherland are characterized. The effectiveness of pedagogical conditions for educating the values ​​of the Motherland in junior schoolchildren by means of folk pedagogy is theoretically substantiated and experimentally tested. The project educational technology for junior schoolchildren "Cultural heritage of my Motherland" which provides expedient use of various forms and methods of educational work is developed and tested.
