The dissertation theoretically substantiates the education organization and content of national values in the Ukrainian school of the United States through the historical transformations prism, theoretical foundations and practical implementation. The creative use possibilities of the positive experience of the younger generation’s upbringing of the Ukrainian western diaspora in Ukraine are determined. The research works of sociologists, philosophers, scholars, educators, cultural figures of the Ukrainian diaspora are analyzed, the research basic concepts are highlighted and their content is specified. It is revealed that Ukrainian scholars of the diaspora interpret education as a purposeful, conscious process of forming a comprehensively developed personality in order to bring it closer to the ideal. In a narrower sense, the “values” are regarded as “the Ukrainian educational ideal in the diaspora”. It was found that the national values in the Ukrainian school in the United States are of a cross-cutting nature, starting from the goals and content of education and ending with learning outcomes, with a step-by-step implementation algorithm. The author’s periodization of the formation and development of Ukrainian education in the United States has been developed: The I period (1888–1912 years of the 20th century) — the initial one, The ІІ period (1913–1946 years of the 20th century) — organizational and pedagogical, III period (from the end of the 40s to 1969 years of the 20th century) — coordination and axiological, Period IV (1970–1990 years of the 20th century) — dichotomous, V period (1991–2020 years 21st century) — modernization. It has been proved that a public organization, i.e. the School Council at the UCCA is the central body for organizing the education and upbringing of Ukrainian children in the United States in order to preserve national identity and form national values. The types of school educational institutions in the Ukrainian diaspora of the USA and their functioning peculiarities in the multiethnic environment of the country of residence have been determined. It has been established that the Saturday schools of Ukrainian studies at the School Council of the UCCA are part of an integral system of Ukrainian studies education in the United States. Due to the combination of educational and upbringing functions of the school, transmitting knowledge of Ukrainian studies to students, they instill in them love and respect for the Ukrainian people, Ukrainian culture, traditions and Ukraine. The basic basis of national education is Ukrainian culture. The organizational and pedagogical foundations of the activities of Ukrainian studies schools and their didactic and methodological support have been determined. An analysis of training and education programs in Ukrainian studies schools at the School Council of the UCCA showed that their content provides for the child harmonious development on the Ukrainian culture basis, the main academic subject is Ukrainian language. The study analyzes the educational meaning of textbooks in a Ukrainian foreign school in retrospective genesis. It has been proved that textbooks in the Ukrainian diaspora of the United States have a powerful educational potential, corresponding to the specifics of the educational process in Ukrainian studies schools. It was found that the Ukrainian diaspora in the United States has created an integral system of Ukrainian studies education. The achievement of this goal was facilitated by the Ukrainian educational institutions organization, Ukrainian studies departments, Ukrainian programs and institutes at higher educational institutions of the country, Ukrainian studies higher courses, Ukrainian schools, preschool educational institutions, and their own youth and public organizations. The Ukrainian schooling system was characterized by a national orientation as one of the leading factors in the Ukrainian society consolidation and preservation in the United States.
