The esearch is devoted to an actual topic – organizational and methodical conditions of functioning and development of secondary educational institutions for gifted children. The historical and pedagogical conditions of functioning and development of gymnasiums, lyceums, collegiums, college in the education system of Ukraine are reviewed in the thesis, the conceptual conditions of their activity, the place and role in the national education system are defined. An attention is directed to basic principles of pedagogue's activity, features of scientific and methodical work and administration system in diverse kinds of educational institutions for gifted children. The conception of "A creative personality" program, aimed to building up a creative personality of pupil in gymnasium, lyceum, collegium, college, the program of creating and developing educational institutions for creatively developed children in Kyyiv province in 1999–2000 are worked out and applied. Principal results, conclusions and recommen dations of the research are applied to working practice of secondary educational institutions for gifted children, they can be used by teachers, managers of general education schools, gymnasiums, lyceums, collegiums, college in educational and tutorial process, in the work with creative children.
