Essay

This dissertation focuses on the study of moral and ethic education in American school in 1830s-1990s. It has been ascertained that a contradictional character of social and economic development creates two tendencies of social attitude to moral and ethic education. One of them leads to its weakening and another one - to its strengthening. In the research the main stages of moral education development, its contents, forms, methods, means and tendencies were determined and proved. The influence of social, economic, political, religious, philosophical, and cultural factors on moral and ethic education was determined. The contents and peculiarities of the main conceptions and programs of moral and ethic education on each stage of its development were revealed. Their evolution and transformation in the context of social changes was shown.
