Essay

Object of investigation – surgical diseases in the region of third digital phalanx in cows. The goal of investigation: clinical and experimental substantiationethiology and pathogenesis of laminitis in high-producing cows and the development on this basis effective measures of its control and prevention. The investigation method – clinical and ethological investigations in cows; ELISA tests (insulin, cortisolum, interleukine-4); morphological (quantity of erythrocytes and leucocytes) and biochemical (hemoglobin, general protein and its fractions, urea, creatinine, ALT, AST); investigation of rumen content (pH index, quantity on infusorians and volatile fatty acids); morphometrical measures of hoof; histological, histochemical, x-rays, and sonografical investigations of digit structures in cows. The scientific novelty: consist in feather development of the knowledge on pathogenetical particularities of laminitis in high-producing cows on the basis of the results of clinical, experimental and theoretical investigations. In particular there were proposed the using of balanced rations, observing feeding technology, the using of rational method of trimming technique, providing the comfort keeping conditions, the control of concomitant foot diseases, the using of effective antimicrobial medicines and proper surgery technique. Proposed: the new methods and means of the treatment and prevention of laminitis and its complication in high-producing cows. Implemented: obtained results were used in methodical recommendations “Hoof trimming in cows” and “Papillomatous digital dermatitis in cows (course, diagnosis, treatment and prevention)” approved and accepted into veterinary practice by scientific and methodical Consil of State department of veterinary medicine of Ukraine. There were obtained two declarative patents based on the results of the work. Using area: veterinary medicine.
