Object - the educational process in Ukraine (the end of the XVIIIth - the begin. of the XXth cent.); objective - to substantiate theoretical ideas and practical progress of the private initiative in education of Ukraine at the end of the XVIIIth - the begin. of the XXth cent., which will provide effective functioning of the private educational institutions of non-governmental property under existing conditions of the national educational system reorganization; methods - historical-structural, constructive-genetic, systematization, classification; novelty - the problem of the private initiative development in education of Ukraine has been widely and integrally researched for the first time; social and pedagogical, moral prerequisites have been defined; the contribution made by the progressive intelligentsia to working out theoretical grounds of the phenomenon under research has been evaluated. The stages and peculiarities of the private initiative development have been scientifically grounded; the experience of the private educational establishments activities has been summarized, the types of such educational establishments have been singled out and systematized; the tendencies of the private schooling development and private charity activities in education in Ukraine at the end of the XVIIIth - the begin. of the XXth cent. have been ascertained; the principal areas of the private charity in education have been characterized; the prognostic tendencies of the private initiative development under existing conditions have been defined; results - the introduction of conclusions and recommendations into educational process of high schools; the educational supplies have been worked out, speciality - General Pedagogics and History of Pedagogics.
