Object - the process of family education in a variety of social, cultural and ideological conditions of Ukraine within the second part of the XIXth century and the beginning of the XXIst century and its pedagogical results; the aim - to find out and reveal the specific aspects of the content, objectives and methods of educating children in the family during the period from the second part of the XIXth century till the beginning of the XXIst century in Ukraine as a component of a social-pedagogical phenomenon in order to substantiate an integral historical- pedagogical sphere and work out on its basis an ideal model of family education; methods - historical-pedagogical, problem-genetic, comparative, chronological ; novelty - the research has been the first one to present an integral analysis of the issues of education and development of the theory and practice of educating children in the family in Ukraine in the given period, the factors of the essence of family education are defined, the periods in the development of theory and practice of educating children in the family are singled out, their succession, correlation and perspectives are grounded, the specific features of theoretical ideas and practical importance of scientific theories of family education worked out by domestic educationalists are characterized, the prospects for the implementation of historic experience of family education in the present-day situation are singled out and analysed; results - 2-volume reader "Family education", factual data and theoretical conclusions of the research and methodologies of historical-pedagogical research as well as worked out by the author means for family education modeling may be used in a complex of historical-pedagogical researches; field - pedagogy
