Object - social deviance and its demographic consequences; goal - to investigate theoretically-methodological and empirical aspects of social deviance and its demographic impact in Ukraine, to develop basic principles and strategies aimed at reducing demographic consequences of social deviance; methods - historical and logical analysis, synergies, demographic modeling, statistical; novelty - a theoretical and methodological approach to investigate social deviance as a factor of deterioration of population quality has been developed and practical measures to reduce prevalence of these phenomena and minimize its negative outcomes has been suggested; results: mechanism of the impact of the lack of social capital on social deviance is revealed; methods of estimating social deviance are improved; a new method is developed and used for estimating alcohol-attributable mortality in Ukraine; the relationship between social capital, health and social deviance are examined; basic principles and strategies of social control to reduce demographic consequences of social deviance are developed.
