Object - the educational process in general education institutions of Ukraine (the middle of the XIX - early XX century), the purpose - a retrospective analysis of the implementation of chosen historical and pedagogical phenomenon and synthesis of the spiritual experience of students’ moral education in general education institutions of Ukraine (the middle of the XIX - early XX century); methods - historical and pedagogical analysis, generalization of regulations, historical, structural, historical and diachronic, scientific identification of archival and published sources, historical actualization; novelty - the integrity of the investigated processes of formation and development of the theory and practice of spiritual and moral education of students of secondary schools in historical retrospect, the results can be used to make new types of educational institutions and charitable associations of educational directions, development normative legal mid-level framework of educational system; for composing encyclopedias, reference and bibliographic publications, writing textbooks and teaching materials, working out lectures and special courses, realization of parents enlightenment programs; in the organization and determination of modern teachers training in teacher training colleges, institutes, universities, institutions of Postgraduate Education, Teacher Training Institutions of III-IV accreditation levels, in writing term papers and qualification (undergraduate, graduate, master) work; field - pedagogy.
