Essay

The thesis substantiates the theoretical-and-methodological bases of Health Pedagogics as a consistent educational system with its own tasks and objectives. Main stages of the formation and development of Health Pedagogics in Ukraine are specified. Different kinds of approaches, models, and concepts of health are analyzed to form an integrated subdiscipline Health Pedagogics meeting new educational needs. The contribution of Pedagogics is treated as a predominant component used to create a conceptual model of health, the purpose of which is to form basic knowledge, skills, acquired habits, the ability to maintain an individual's health as well as the health of the others, and to improve preventive measures for health protection. The leading tendencies of further theoretical and practical development of Health Pedagogics in Ukraine are outlined.
