Object - the process of children and youth civic upbringing in the domestic pedagogy in the second half of 19th - the beginning of 20th century; the aim - to realize a retrospective systematic analysis of the ideas and experience of children and youth civic upbringing in the domestic public and pedagogical movement in the second half of 19th - the beginning of 20th century in order to creatively use the acquired data for forming civic attitude of the younger generation under modern conditions of Ukrainian state making; methods - general scientific, historic-structural, genesis-historic, historic-chronological, historic-comparative, historic-praximetric, historic-revival; novelty - for the first time systematic analysis of the ideas and experience of children and youth civic upbringing in the domestic public and pedagogical movement in the research period has been made, the stages in the becoming and development of ideas of children and youth civic upbringing in the domestic public and pedagogical movement have been substantiated, the views of domestic public personalities, writers and educators in the second half of 19th - the beginning of 20th century on the ideal of citizen, the ways for forming of citizen-patriot personality have been systematized, forms and methods, tendencies of children and youth civic upbringing in the research period have been determined, the methodological and theoretical basis of historic-pedagogical study of the problem of civic upbringing and the essential concepts and categories of this problem have been specified; results - the research materials let solve practical problems of children and youth civic upbringing in present day; the research data have been used in teaching such subjects as "Pedagogy", "Higher Education Pedagogy" and "History of Pedagogy" and also in writing by students course and diploma thesis linked with issues of history, theory and practice of children and youth civic upbringing; field - pedagogy.
