Kravtsova Y. Semantic adaptation of German lexical borrowings in Russian language of the XVII - XVIII centuries.

The thesis deals with the semantic adaptation of German lexical borrowing in Russian language of the XVII - XVIII centuries. The thesis elucidates theoretical questions about the nature of borrowings, the principles of the classification of borrowed words and the ways of adaptation of foreign language vocabulary. The condition of the problem of learning German lexical borrowings in linguistic Russian studies was analyzed; German lexical borrowing in historical and chronological context was characterized. We have given the complex historical and linguistic characteristics of the German lexical borrowings and have found the reasons and the ways of its penetration in Russian language of the XVII - XVIII centuries; have developed thematic classification of borrowed lexical units from German (XVII - XVIII cc); have described the features of semantic adaptation of German lexical borrowings in Russian language; have exposed the nature of semantic relations of the German borrowings in the process of its assimilation in the language-recipient; have analyzed the systematic links of German borrowings in lexical system of the Russian language, in particular, the phenomena of homonymy and synonymy.
