Vengerska V. Ukrainian projects and nation-building in the Habsburg and Romanov Empires: ideas, concepts, practices (late 18 - beginning of 19 century).

The thesis is devoted to nation creation activities of both intellectuals and government officials in the process of designing Ukrainian and other national "projects" in the 19-th century in multiethnic Empires of the Romanovs and the Habsburgs. Deep analysis of an array of domestic and foreign historiography devoted to the problems of nation-building was conducted, the main historiographical periods of researches of these topics identified by its achievements and unsolved problems were highlighted. The historical sources of the researches are represented by the documentations of central and local administration, police, gendarmerie establishments, unpublished and published epistolary heritage, periodicals, memoirs, diaries, statistical data, diverse maps, researches of the Russian Joint Staff, church and archaeological companies and the results of the census.
