Essay

The author reveals specificity of management function of head of higher educational institution, who in his adult life should seek self-realization through self-education, self-development, self-improvement, self-correction, self-organization and re-organization. Based on the acmeological analysis of management activities of head of higher educational institution, there was developed theoretical functional-structural model of his professional acmeological-synergetic self-improvement. For confirmation of theoretical conclusions concerning need and features of realization of acmeological-synergetic self-improvement of the head of a higher educational institution, was used acmeological experiment. Efficient implementation of process of professional self-improvement uses acmeological technologies (including system of developmental trainings). For efficient self-improvement and further self-development of management staff of higher educational institutions (universities), based on professional development centers for this category of educational managers, is proposed to create a service of acmeological-synergetic support of professional development.
