Essay

The dissertation is devoted to experimental solution of the problem of medicamentous cerebroprotection during prolonged hyperglycemia (experimental equivalent of diabetes mellitus). It has been ascertained that nootropic drugs citicoline, phenylpiracetam, cerebrocurin, pramiracetam and N-phenylacetyl-L-prolylglycine improve input information and retention of conditional skills, increase orientation and research activity, and promote nonassociative learning to a greater extent than piracetam and Ginkgo biloba extract. It has been established that metformin and pioglitazone exert dose-dependent hypoglycemic activity, but have no significant effect on amnestic properties of scopolamine in conditions of hyperglycemia. However, metformin, but not pioglitazone, potentiates antiamnesic properties of piracetam. It has been ascertained that thiotriazolin and acetylsalicylic acid are able to improve significantly the quality of nootropic therapy with piracetam. Our studies allow to substantiate the expediency of neuroprotective therapy and improvement of its quality in diabetic patients by creating fixed combinations of drugs.
