Object - the process of development of the Ukrainian higher school didactics in the second half of the XXth - beginning of the XXIst century; the aim - on the basis of historiographical analysis to characterize the genesis of the didactics of the higher school of the Eastern region of Ukraine during the second half of the XXth - beginning of the XXIst century in order to use attainments in the practice of universities at the present stage; methods - general scientific, structural, historical and situational, concrete historical, historical-comparative, historical, chronological, forecasting; novelty - the first time the comprehensive historiographical research of the problems of higher school didactics in the Eastern region of Ukraine is carried out in broad chronological framework, the main directions of comprehension of issues are determined; theoretical and methodological bases of pedagogical historiography are characterized; historiographical analysis of the genesis of general didactics as a basis for the theory of learning in higher school is done; the main directions of the study of the phenomenon by domestic progressive educators, scientists of the second half of the XXth - beginning of the XXIst century are determined; the contribution of scientists of the Eastern region of Ukraine in the development of didactic problems of higher school is clarified; theoretical aspects of pedagogical historiography acquired further development; results - theoretical propositions and conclusions on the historiography of didactics of the higher school in the Eastern region of Ukraine in the second half of the XXth - beginning of the XXIst century, which are formulated in the course of the scientific research, provide new objective interpretation of the organization of educational process in higher school and can serve as the basis for the modernization of educational content in higher education, taking into account the positive achievements in the modern conditions of reforming. The results can be used by scientists who are interested in issues of higher school didactics, pedagogical historiography, in the preparation of theses, monographs, research papers, reference and bibliographic editions, etc. Scientific-theoretical conclusions of the thesis can enjoy academics to improve the educational process, optimization of educational work with students, improve their own professional-pedagogical competence; field - pedagogy.
