Research is dedicated to the development of theory and the improvement of demographic security formation methodology. Structural-functional model of the demographic system is built, its internal environment and the mechanism of its interaction with the environment is studied. The category of "demographic security" and "national demographic interests" is investigated. Classification of demographic security threats is done and the author's approach of its assessment based on their interaction with the demographic system environment and internal changes in it is proposed. An interpretation of the categories of "demographic threat" and "demographic security threat" is proposed. The model of demographic security formation system is developed, its main components, relationships and characteristics. A reproductive approach that reflects the necessary conditions, internal and external demographic security factors is proposed. The system of indicators to assess demographic security-insecurity levels is developed and their targets and thresholds are proposed. An integral index of demographic security and its assessment scale is proposed. The demographic security level in Ukraine and its regions is calculated. The environmental influence on the demographic security is studied, that are socio-economic and eco components. The estimation of demographic risks and their impact on the national security of Ukraine is done. The conceptual model to ensure demographic security is developed and its goals, targets, subjects, objects and main subsystems are defined. An institutional framework and institutional structure to ensure it with formal and informal institutions and institutional traps is proposed. A strategic planning of demographic security is conducted and its main directions of state regulation are proposed.
