Essay

The work investigated the formation and historical development of higher pedagogical education in Ukraine as a separate subsystem of higher education have their own organization, contents, forms and methods from the point of view of modern methodological approaches. The study authors developed criteria, on their basis developed a periodization of the historical development of higher pedagogical education in Ukraine in the first half of the twentieth century, namely: I period (1905-1917) - the Imperial period; II period (1917-1920) - the Ukrainian revolution; III period (1920-1932) - the Soviet innovation; IV period (1932-1959) - the Soviet-totalitarian. The study elucidated the regularities, contradictions and General pedagogical trends of the historical development of higher pedagogical education the first half of the twentieth century; identified the main progressive achievement of the highest historical and pedagogical education of Ukraine in the first half of the twentieth century.
