The thesis deals with solving the actual scientific problem of increasing the safety of using articulated wheeled vehicles through the development of an integrated approach on the stages of design, manufacture and operation that made it possible to form the foundation of the concept of ensuring the position stability of the above-mentioned machines. The provision and parameters of position stability of wheeled vehicles that allow improving the accuracy of its estimates were proposed. There was also carried out the assessment of influence of the main factors on the formation of the operational property in question, which in turn made it possible to establish appropriate relationships and develop mathematical models. There were developed and improved the methods of evaluating the reliability of elements of the system "driver-vehicle-road conditions" that affect the operational safety. There was created the software SPSAV and DPSAV for assessing the static and dynamic position stability. There were developed the approaches to improve the position stability and reliability through the use of elastic elements and electronic systems. The experimental study of position stability of articulated wheeled vehicles is carried out. The practical significance of the results obtained were confirmed by implementing the proposed methods and approaches in the development work at manufacturing site and testing, autotechnical forensic examination and investigation of accidents, as well as operation of articulated wheeled vehicles.
