Essay

The thesis represents a new conceptual approach to education of national self-assertion in school youth that consists of substantiation of the theoretical and methodical bases of formation of national self-assertion in school students, development and experimental testing of the efficiency of the structural-functional model and methods of educating school youth's national self-assertion in extracurricular activities of general educational institution. The author substantiates theoretical and methodological approaches to studying the issue of national self-assertion of personality. The paper reveals the essence of education of national self-assertion in student youth as an organized subject-subject interaction aimed at spiritual development of the school student, his positive national feelings and values national-personal that constitute the inner basis of readiness to national self-assertion. The represented structure of national self-assertion of school youth includes cognitive, emotional-value, reflexive-will, and conduct-activity components in their unity. The author defines the levels of school students' national self-assertion: actively constructive (high), reflexive-positive (sufficient), situationally changeable (middle), negatively passive (low); describes the educational potential of extracurricular activity in the context of the research; substantiates the structural-functional model of educating national self-assertion in school youth in the unity of the aim, conceptual, theoretical, diagnostical, formation, and resultative blocs. The efficiency of the represented structural-functional model and methods of education of national self-assertion in school youth in extracurricular activities of general educational institutions have undergone experimental testing and approbation.
