Essay

Object – professional training of philologists in the universities of Greece in the second half of XX – the early XXI century; the aim – on the basis of the study of theoretical ideas and generalization of the experience of training philologists in Greece during the period under research to work out the recommendations on the implementation of pedagogically valuable achievements of Greek universities in order to improve training of philologists in Ukraine; methods – theoretical, historical-comparative and problem-oriented, chronological, diachronic, comparative-pedagogical, prognostic, empirical; novelty – the research is the first to provide a retrospective analysis of the problem of training philologists in the universities of Greece in the second half of XX – the early XXI century; the Greek and domestic historiography on the problem of research is characterized, the directions of studies of the issues dealing with training philologists in Greek universities are determined; a comparative analysis of the content of the basic concepts of the dissertation in the researches of domestic and Greek scholars is carried out; the stages in the theory and practice of training philologists in Greek universities during the period under research are scientifically substantiated; the prospects of implementing the Greek pedagogically valuable experience of training philologists in the educational process of higher educational institutions of Ukraine are outlined; the main definitions of the problem under research are specified: "training of a philologist"; "language education; the ideas on approaches and methods of language learning and teaching and specific aspects in the development of training philologists in the universities of Greece are studied. A large number of unknown and little-known documents (330) is introduced for the scientific study; results – the educational-teaching complex "Listening in the Modern Greek language" (approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine) has been worked out. The complex consists of the textbook for ΙΙΙ-ΙV year students, whose major is Modern Greek, a book for a teacher that contains the tapescripts of audio texts, the answers to the tasks to the audiotexts, the examples of control works, the tasks for students’ independent work and for students’ individual project work. The teaching programmes for I-III year students and for “specialist” and “master degree” level students majoring in Greek have been worked out; the textbook “Education in Greece: from ancient times to nowadays” for future teachers learning such disciplines as “History of Pedagogy” and “Comparative Pedagogy” has been published. The theoretical ideas and conclusions of the research will be helpful to those who are engaged in teaching pedagogical and methodological disciplines in higher educational establishments, to those who are engaged in the organization of students’ teaching practice; for writing course and master degree papers; for working out the curriculum and writing textbooks. The monograph and teaching aids developed by the author can be used in the organization of the educational process in the higher educational establishments of Ukraine; field – pedagogy.
