Essay

The Thesis provides theoretical generalization and offers a new approach to solution of the important and relevant issue that constitutes discovery and multifaceted characterization of the socio-pedagogical bases of Esperanto movement development in Ukraine at the end of the XIX – middle 30’s of the XX century in the structure of ideological, social, pedagogical determinants as the general social process components. The research relies on systemic and chronological approach to study of the socio-pedagogical bases of Esperanto movement development in Ukraine at the end of the XIX – middle 30’s of the XX century in the context of close interaction of ideological, social and pedagogic determinants as the general social process components. The research of the socio-pedagogical bases of Esperanto movement development in Ukraine at the end of the XIX – middle 30’s of the XX century embraces the historical and pedagogical as well as other sciences based on the interdisciplinary approach. The chronological and topic-specific principles have contributed to outlining the historiography of the problem of socio-pedagogical bases of Esperanto movement development in Ukraine: the papers of the contemporary writers in the chronological frameworks of the research (end of the XIX – middle 30’s of the XX century); the papers of the Soviet scientists outside the chronological boundaries of the study (late 50’s – late 80’s of the XX century); the modern researcher works (starting from the 90’s of the XX century). It has been established that research of the socio-pedagogical bases of Esperanto movement development in Ukraine at the end of the XIX – middle 30’s of the XX century is based on the powerful database of the sources analyzed according to the following source groups: documentary, mass, academic, additional. The Thesis substantiates the theoretical and methodological bases of the research: the approaches (systemic and chronological, topic-specific, cultural, anthropological, paradigmatic, axiological, synergic, comparative, hermeneutical), principles (historicism, objectivity, consistency, determinism), methods (general scientific, historical and pedagogical, specialized historical). For the first time, the author discovers and provides multifaceted characterization of the socio-pedagogical bases of Esperanto movement development in Ukraine at the end of the XIX – middle 30’s of the XX century viewed as an integral fusion of governing principles, ideas, regulations, provisions, requirements distinguishing Esperanto movement at each epoch and stage of its development due to the quantitative and qualitative changes in all structural components from organizational and managerial to contextual and communicative: social bases (socio-political, socio-economic and socio-cultural conditions of establishment and development of the international plan languages; regulatory support (programs, charters etc.) of its organization; social support; Esperanto-periodicals as a means of Esperanto movement promotion; joint activities and social initiative of the Esperantists; social demand of international communication means etc.); pedagogical bases (purpose, contents, directions, forms of activity of the Esperantists at various epochs and stages of Esperanto movement development; methodological support of Esperanto movement; Esperanto periodicals as a source of pedagogical Esperanto innovations etc.). The author substantiates periodization of Esperanto movement development in Ukraine the key criterion of which is the socio-pedagogical bases of the research phenomenon evolution at the end of the XIX – middle 30’s of the XX century: the Imperial period – the 80’s of the XIX century – early 1917 (the linguistic stage – the 80’s of the XIX century – early 1905; the propagandistic stage – late 1905 – early 1917); the Soviet period – late 1917–1938 (the transitory stage – late 1917 – early 1921; the international-proletarian stage – late 1921 – early 1936; the Esperanto movement liquidation stage – late 1936–1938). The Thesis characterizes the key directions of Esperanto movement development in Ukraine at the end of the XIX – middle 30’s of the XX century: social activity of the Esperantists in the cultural (Esperanto parties, morning gatherings, concerts, exhibitions, fairs, expositions, jubilee events etc.), the educational and enlightening (Esperanto radio broadcasting – radio concerts, radio lessons, radio courses, reports and advertisements, radio newspapers, other information and feature programs in Esperanto etc.), the publishing (preparation and publication of the feature, educational, reference and propaganda literature about the auxiliary language), the Esperanto-reporter (Esperanto-reporter social movement aimed at the international written correspondence) and other directions of the Esperanto-community activities; the educational and enlightening activities of the Esperantists in various organizational forms.
