Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the research of genetic consequences of the contamination of the environment with natural and tech-genic mutagenic factors and to the identification of the peculiarities of their genotoxic effect by the nature of phenotypical, cytogenetic and molecular-genetic hereditary changes in Triticum aestivum L. The level of mutation variability of winter wheat under the prolonged and chronic effect of radionuclide contamination of the alienation zone of ChNPP 25 years after the accident was studied. Mutagenic activity of the environmental factors of various ecologic-geographic regions of Ukraine was estimated, and the territories, where a high spontaneous level of chromosome aberrations had been observed for 20 years, were identified. The largest polymorphism by allele composition was typical for locus Gli-2D of the 6th gomeological chromosome group. The linkage of genes which determine the traits of an ear form and awnness was found. The efficiency of the use of natural and techno-genic mutagenic factors of the environment proved to be useful for the induction of improved indicators of wheat grain quality with a simultaneous maintenance of the yield capacity potential of the initial cultivar.
