Essay

Object – the activities of the departments of Pedagogy within the structure of higher education pedagogical establishments in Ukraine (the beginning of XX – beginning of XXI century); the aim – to substantiate the stages in the development of scientific and pedagogical activities of Pedagogy departments in higher education pedagogical establishments of Ukraine (the beginning of XX – beginning of XXI century) and summarize the researched data in order to implement the efficient achievements of the past in the present day teaching process; methods – general scientific, historical pedagogical, comparative, personality-oriented biographical, prognostic; novelty – the research is the first to provide the study of the problem of scientific and pedagogical activities of Pedagogy departments in higher education pedagogical establishments of Ukraine (the beginning of XX – beginning of XXI century) with reference to specific social-political and cultural-educational conditions; the organizational and theoretical basis of the research of the problem of scientific and pedagogical activities of Pedagogy departments in higher education pedagogical establishments of Ukraine is analysed within the framework of different methodological approaches; the stages in the development of scientific and pedagogical activities of Pedagogy departments in higher education pedagogical establishments of Ukraine are substantiated; the practice of scientific and pedagogical activities of Pedagogy departments in higher education pedagogical establishments is summarized; the prospective directions of scientific and pedagogical activities of Pedagogy departments in higher education pedagogical establishments of Ukraine are determined; the definitions of the notions “scientific activity”, “pedagogical activity”, “ scientific and pedagogical activity”, “department”, “Pedagogy department in higher education pedagogical establishment” are analysed and specified; the ideas and data on the conditions providing for the developments in scientific and pedagogical activities of Pedagogy departments in higher education pedagogical establishments of Naddniprianska Ukraine (1803–1920) are studied; results – the materials of the research are essential for unbiased interpretation of scientific and pedagogical activities of Pedagogy departments in higher education pedagogical establishments of Ukraine (the beginning of XX – beginning of XXI century) and ensure understanding and analysis of the on-going educational reforms in Ukraine. The materials and results of the research will be useful for scholars interested in the study of the history and development of higher pedagogical education in Ukraine, in professional training of teachers and academics; for writing textbooks and teaching manuals, encyclopaedic and reference publications, for preparing teaching courses and seminars for the students of higher education pedagogical establishments, for writing Master degree papers and scientific projects, in such courses as “Pedagogy of Higher Education”, “History of Pedagogy”, “Foundations of Scientific Research”, “Management of Higher Education Establishment”, “Administrative Management in Education”; field – pedagogy.
