Essay

The dissertation provides results of historical and pedagogical research of genesis of maritime education in Ukraine; global and local tendencies of its development are substantiated; historical sources of maritime education emergence in Ukrainian lands are found out; analysis of factors influencing its development in Ukraine during the period of the second half of the 18th – beginning of the 21st centuries is carried out; mechanisms and driving forces are identified. The object of the research is maritime education in Ukraine in the second half of the 18th – beginning of the 21st centuries, the subject of the research is global and local tendencies of maritime education development in Ukraine. The aim of the research was chosen to be – substatiation of tendencies of maritime education development in Ukraine, based on the system retrospective analysis, in the global and local dymensions and outlining of perspectives of maritime education reformation at the present stage. Methods: search and bibliographic, systematization, generalization, historical and genetic, historical and structural analysis, narrative. There was proposed periodization of maritime education development in Ukraine in the defined period; transformation of the content of functioning of maritime education objects’ system was described; the role and active influence of its agents was defined at every period. Historiography of the issue was analysed, categorical and conceptual apparatus was outlined, basic notions –“maritime education”, “development of maritime education” – were characterized. Retrospective analysis of the structure and content of the maritime education system at different periods was carried out; there were defined peculiarities of activity arrangement of its different constituent parts. There were identified world, continental, state, object-industrial and idividual (personal) tendencies of maritime education development in Ukraine in the defined period. Practical significance of the obtained results of the research lies in the fact that its materials, comparative and chronological tables were used in the process of development of the textbook “Maritime Education in the Activity of the Black Sea Admirals, Military Governors and Maritime Ministers (in the Imperial Times)”. It was used by the lecturers and teachers of maritime educational establishments in order to enrich the topicality and content of lectures and seminars. Based on the analysis of the tendencies, there were outlined the perspectives of further transformation of maritime education in Ukraine.
